Member Organizations

 

This membership category refers to camps who offer sailing instruction. A flat membership fee is paid to the Ontario Sailing of which 50% is then forwarded to the Canadian Yachting Association.

Affiliate Organizations

This membership category refers to associations outside of the club arena.
From disabled sailing organizations to local handicapping associations, Ontario Sailing represents the sport of sailing at all levels.

Corporate Members

Many organizations in the boating community have chosen to become a corporate member of Ontario Sailing and have enjoyed a mutually beneficial partnership. Becoming a member and/or partner of a respected Association that serves the needs of boaters is important. Currently, the Ontario Sailing represents 170 member clubs, schools, camps and boating organizations, 10,000 boating families and over 100,000 boaters in Ontario.

Yacht/Sailing Club

Yacht clubs, sailing clubs, community clubs and windsurfing clubs are the foundation of Ontario Sailing's membership. There are over 100 clubs currently members of Ontario Sailing.

All persons recognized as members in good standing of an Ontario Sailing's member club are considered to be members of the CYA. A club listing of all members should be provided to Ontario Sailing/CYA so that services may be provided to all individual members.

Community Club

This membership category refers to community or co-op clubs where the club owns the boats and members pay to share these boats. Membership is based on the number of members and the number of boats. The membership is paid to Ontario Sailing and 50% of that amount is forwarded to the Canadian Yachting Association.

Sailing School (Dinghy)

This membership category refers to schools or clubs who offer a learn-to-sail dinghy program. A flat membership fee of is paid to Ontario Sailing (unless you are a club and have paid the club membership fee then you are not charged an additional fee to be listed under this category as well). 50% of the membership fee is then forwarded onto the Canadian Yachting Association.

Cruising/Power School

This membership category refers to schools or clubs who offer a learn to cruise/power program. A flat membership fee of $150.00 is paid to Ontario Sailing of which 50% is then forwarded to the Canadian Yachting Association. Any member clubs who also offer Learn to Cruise/Power courses and wish to be promoted as such must also pay the additional membership fee.
 
Charters/Time Shares
 
This membership category refers to organizations that offer sailboat chartering.  A flat membership fee of $150.00 is pad to Ontario Sailing of which 50% is then forwarded to the Canadian Yachting Association.  If you are interested in becoming a Charter member please contact Shauna at info@ontariosailing.ca.

Class Associations

Currently there are over 50 recognized class association members in Canada. Sailors are encouraged to contact their respective Class Associations to find out what racing circuits, organized class development and/or recreational cruises are now available in their region or across Canada. Most CYA recognized class associations have a provincial chapter/representative and if so, we have listed these here.
