All boaters, whether they enjoy cruising, sailing, fishing or watersports have one thing in common - the need for a clean, inviting place to boat.  In fact, it's safe to say that the future of boating depends on the vitality of the nation's lakes, bays, rivers and oceans.

 

The Waterfront Challenge is a national competition, sponsored by Interlux Yacht Finishes, to encourage people to improve their local waterfronts.  It's open to any group of three or more people - yacht clubs, scout troops, civic or environmental organizations, even families or friends - willing to spend at least one weekend working to better their waterways.  To be eligible a project must simply benefit the local marine environment and take at least two days to complete.

 

Every effort makes a difference - and your group's efforts could earn a share of $60,000 in prizes!  A total of eight grants will be awarded - seven $5,000 regional awards and one $25,000 grand prize.  Each project will be judged on originality, involvement, effort, educational value, potential for replication, fun, publicity and success in meeting its goals.  Winners will be announced February 11, 2009 at the Miami International Boat Show.
